Radon Levels Explained
Radioactivity (and radon gas) results are measured in units of picocuries (pCi) [per liter of air] in the United States versus the International System of Units (SI), the Becquerel (Bq). A picocurie is a unit of radioactivity that is equivalent to one trillionth of a curie. In Perspective, one cure measures the rate of radioactive decay, specifically 3.7 x 10^10 disintegrations per second.
What is an Action Level?
The EPA recommends fixing homes when radon levels reach 4 pCi/L (150 Bq/m³) or higher. Since no known level of radon exposure is considered safe, the EPA also urges Americans to consider taking action when levels fall between 2 and 4 pCi/L (75–150 Bq/m³). (epa.gov)

What are our clients saying about us?

When was the last time you tested your business, home, daycare, or school for radon gas?
Radon is a natural [soil] gas, which is: colorless, odorless, and carcinogenic. Radon enters buildings from below and it raises from the earth. When this gas is inhaled, the decaying radon gas separates into radioactive radon decay products (RDPs). These RDPs, contain alpha- and beta- radiation and damage the lining of the lungs over time.Long-term exposure to radon may lead to lung cancer. The Illinois Emergency Management Agency, Department of Nuclear Services (IEMA) and United States Department of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have identified the lung cancer mortality rate from radon exposure to be approximately 21,000.
